This blog is focused solely on educating consumers about laptop computing, excluding the world of Apple Macs. My aim is to help ordinary consumers understand laptop computing and hardware specifications by sharing with them what I have learned through my own experiences as a laptop user. I want to emphasize that I am a layperson and not a professional programmer, salesman, or repair specialist.
As much as possible, I will communicate in simple, jargon-free language, but there is a catch: a few simple terms really must be learned. Over the next few posts, I will introduce some of these terms and what they mean–and why you as a computer user should care. The posts that will be forthcoming will help to answer–again and again–two fundamental questions: (1) “how do I buy a laptop computer?” and (2) “how can I upgrade my computer to get the most performance out of it?”
